TikTok is working on Avatar, live audio streaming, new creator tools and more

According to the latest report, TikTok is working on several new features, including Bitmoji-like avatars, keyword filtering for users’ pages, group chats, audio-only live broadcasts, screen sharing during live broadcasts, and a Twitch-like subscription feature that will allow creatives to create a subscriber-only emoticon and a subscriber-only comment section. These potential features in the works were discovered by social media analyst Matt Navarra.

A TikTok spokesperson told TechCrunch, We are always thinking of new ways to bring value to our community and enrich the TikTok experience. The spokesperson confirmed that these features are indeed under consideration, but emphasized that when TikTok tries new ideas, the goal is to get feedback from users – the resulting feature (if it is rolled out) may look very different from what has been seen so far.

Some of these leaked features have been publicly tested in some form, like paid creator subscriptions. But user-only emotes and comment sections — borrowed directly from Twitch — could make sense in another recent TikTok test: a desktop streaming software called TikTok Live Studio. The keyword filtering feature — similar to Twitter’s “mute” feature — has been mentioned as part of TikTok’s ongoing efforts to clean up it’s For You page.

We’re working on a feature that will let people choose words or hashtags related to the content they don’t want to see on the For You page, TikTok wrote in a December blog post.
