Samsung is undoubtedly one of the companies operating in the Android smartphone sector that is more attentive to the issue of software updates and this year it could be able to release updates for its devices even faster thanks to an important novelty.
It seems, in fact, that the Korean giant has decided not to develop multiple firmware versions for every single country in which it markets its devices: for some months now Samsung has begun to release updates for some models at the same time in a large number of markets which are all with the Country Specific Code (CSC) EUX (covering most of Europe).
Examples of this new update system for territorial areas are represented by Samsung Galaxy A52, Galaxy Z Flip3 5G and Galaxy Z Fold3 5G and in 2022 this “exception” should become the rule for all the devices of the Korean giant.
And a confirmation comes from the advances on the firmware under development for the new Samsung Galaxy S22, Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A33, all with European CSC (EUX). The exceptions will probably be models branded by telephone operators, for which specific firmware will be developed.
Samsung may speed up updates
Undoubtedly, the development of a single firmware for the same device in various European countries will guarantee a less chaotic update release, as all users should receive it almost simultaneously and there should be no more differences between one market and another (sometimes even several weeks).
It must also be said, however, that up to now the smartphones that have been updated with this new system have received the updates with a little delay compared to the same models in other markets and the reason could be to look for in a Samsung’s willingness to be more cautious in the release of EUX firmware, as any bugs could have “relevant” effects for many people.
In 2022, however, the European-based update system should be fully operational and, therefore, the Korean manufacturer should be able to release updates with greater speed. Finally, beta programs should also benefit from the new system based on EUX firmware, which will finally be able to be exploited by all European enthusiasts, regardless of the origin of their device.
How to check the CSC code
If you want to know what the CSC code of your device is, you have to go to the Settings menu and then to the section dedicated to software information and look at the line “Software version of the telephone company”.
An Italian no-brand model will have a series of CSC codes, i.e. ITV / ITV, ITV / EUX / ITV: the first is the active code, the second and the third refer to SIM1 and SIM2, the fourth concerns the territorial area and the last is the primary CSC (the market for which the device was originally intended).
