Facebook loses daily users for the first time

Facebook has continued to grow in recent years, no matter what criticism the media has at the time. But in the last quarter it went down for the first time, you could win fewer new users than you lost old users.

Facebook is losing users every day

The number of daily active users fell from 1.93 billion to 1.929 billion. That’s still a lot, and Facebook continues to be profitable, but it’s the first time Facebook has seen a decline in all active users.

So far, only the younger (albeit relevant) demographic has gone down, but that’s enough to set off an overall downward trend. The question now is: will this continue or can the numbers stabilize again?

Overall, Meta (as Facebook is now called) has 2.82 billion daily active users, a growth of 10 million. Instagram, WhatsApp and Co. are also included here. You don’t have to worry, just get active.

Facebook and the Metaverse

And you can see that in the business numbers because Reality Labs continues to make a big loss. Over 10 billion to be exact. So Facebook hasn’t just renamed itself, Meta, they’re investing heavily in VR.

For Mark Zuckerberg, the matter is clear: the future of social networks is the “metaverse”, i.e. virtual reality. I’m curious to see whether the “Facebook” brand will still play a decisive role in this new world.
