Display industry analyst says Apple may be working on a 15-inch MacBook Air

According to display industry analysts, Apple could release a new 15-inch MacBook Air model in 2023, along with a successor to the 13-inch MacBook Air and some type of 12-inch iPad model. And it’s unclear what the plans for subsequent improvements to the existing 13-inch MacBook Air are. Apple will likely reduce the size of the bezels, allowing the device to have a display closer to 14 inches, like the current MacBook Pro models.

The new 15-inch MacBook Air model, which will join the existing MacBook Air ranks, could also get some type of display size boost, said Ross Young, an analyst at Display Supply Chain Consultants, information that was included in the company’s quarterly displays. provided in the analysis report.

While predicting the MacBook Air, Young also believes that Apple is working on a larger 10-inch iPad model. The current base model iPad has a 10.2-inch display when measured diagonally, but reducing the bezel size could bring the device to a 10.9-inch screen, just like the iPad Air.

Young has a proven track record of reporting accurate information about Apple’s display technology. According to the report, the new forecast is based on interviews with brands, panel suppliers, equipment manufacturers and other display industries.

This isn’t the first time the 15-inch MacBook Air has been mentioned. The Cupertino tech giant considered a 15-inch MacBook Air model at least as far back as 2015, according to internal emails written by late Apple co-founder Steve Jobs. Of course, Apple didn’t follow through on those plans.

According to the latest rumors, Apple may not release an update for current MacBook Air devices until later in 2022.
