A handy feature of Google Pixel 6 is now also available in Italian

Voice assistants can be of great help for many tasks (from setting alarms and appointments to playing your favorite music) but, despite this, very few users like to use the predefined wake-up words. And if Amazon Alexa offers a number of options, Google Assistant is still today after many years in the classic activation phrase Hey, Google or Ok, Google.

A Google Assistant feature now also supports Italian

However, the Mountain View giant has introduced on Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro the possibility of managing some activities without the need to pronounce the activation command first, a few quick phrases being enough and with a new update more languages are getting support for such functionality.

According to what is learned from the official Google support page, this function on Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro now also supports the Italian language. This is the list of all supported languages:

  • English (United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, Singapore)
  • French (France and Canada)
  • German (Germany)
  • Italian (Italy)
  • Spanish (Spain and United States)
  • Japanese (Japan)

In practice, the owners of one of the latest smartphones of the Mountain View giant can ask Google Assistant to perform specific tasks without the need to say Hey, Google: for example, to postpone an alarm you can say Snooze or to reject a hands-free call you can say Reject.

This feature must be specifically enabled in the Google Assistant settings menu, using the appropriate Quick Phrases option. The hope is that the Mountain View giant is convinced to expand the availability of this function, bringing it to other phones as well, perhaps starting with previous generations of Google Pixel smartphones and later including all devices based on its mobile operating system. We’ll see.
