Yesterday, quite a few Studio Display users were unable to update their displays to iOS 15.4, and now, in less than a day, Apple has solved this problem, which stems from the fact that the software has not been verified by the server.
As highlighted and confirmed on Twitter, Apple has not signed iOS 15.4, the latest software update for Studio Display, which makes it impossible for a software update for the display to proceed. A few hours later, Apple re-signed iOS 15.4 for Studio Display, making software updates possible again for customers.
Now the upgraded Studio Display is running iOS 15.4, which is also the latest software update for the current display. While it does run iOS, Studio Display’s updates don’t seem to be in line with the typical iOS and iPadOS release cadence.
Apple released iOS and iPad OS 15.4.1 for iPhone and iPad users last month, but Studio Display still uses iOS 15.4. Apple has promised to provide updates for Studio Display to address poor webcam quality, but has not provided a timeline for updates.
