Apple M2 MacBook Air benchmarks released

Apple M2 MacBook Air has recently opened for pre-order, and the first running score data has been released. According to the screenshots posted by macOS platform development engineer Mr. Macintosh, the Geekbench 5 CPU of the M2 MacBook Air scored 1899 in single-core running and 8965 in multi-core running, running macOS 12.4 operating system and equipped with 16GB unified memory.

In addition, the remaining benchmarks of the Geekbench 5 platform show that the M2 MacBook Air runs at 3489MHz, with a single core around 1900 and a multi-core around 8800. According to previous M2 MacBook Pro benchmark data, the M2 chip performance of the two models is roughly the same, which is also in line with Apple’s claim that it is 18% faster than the M1.

However, the M2 MacBook Air may not be as good as the M2 MacBook Pro in terms of sustained performance, as the former does not have a fan to actively dissipate heat. The M2 MacBook Pro previously exposed the 256GB low-end version of the SSD with only one NAND flash memory chip, while the previous version was equipped with two NAND chips, so the read/write speed was significantly lower than the previous generation of the same model, it is not clear Is there a similar situation for the M2 MacBook Air.
