Nothing has finally introduced its first-ever smartphone, the Nothing Phone (1). There has been real hype about the phone for weeks, now the manufacturer has to deliver. Thanks to numerous leaks in advance, everything about the Nothing Phone (1) was already known in principle.
The Nothing Phone (1) does indeed look quite unique from the back. Otherwise, it reminds you of an iPhone 12 or iPhone 13 series at first glance. Doesn’t have to mean anything bad.
What makes it really unique is its back. The device has a clear glass panel on the back, revealing a row of LED notification lights underneath. These are referred to as “glyphs” by Nothing. This allows you to be shown when messages arrive, the phone rings or the battery level of the phone can be displayed. You can also modify the (or that?) glyph according to your personal ideas.
Nothing Phone (1) Specifications
Very clear that Nothing Phone (1) is a mid-range smartphone. It has a 6.55″ FullHD+ display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz (adaptive 60 Hz-120 Hz) and a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz. The display is quite bright with up to 1,200 nits of brightness.
Inside, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G+ SoC is powered and is available in variants with 8 GB and 12 GB RAM. There are two 8GB RAM models with 128GB and 256GB storage and the top model comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage.
On the back, there is a dual camera with the 50 MP Sony IMX766 sensor and a 50 MP camera with the Samsung JN1 sensor. On the front, there is a 16 MP selfie camera with a Sony IMX471 sensor. A 4,500 mAh battery with 33 watts of PD3.0 wired fast charging, 15 watts of Qi wireless charging and 5 watts of reverse wireless charging powers the device. However, there is no charging adapter in the box.
There is also an in-display fingerprint sensor, dual SIM, 5G connectivity and Face Unlock. Android 12 with Nothing OS and the Nothing Launcher runs as the operating system on the device. Nothing provides Android device updates for 3 years and security patches for 4 years (every 2 months). The phone measures 159.2 x 75.8 x 8.3mm and weighs 193.5g.
Prices
The Nothing Phone (1) with 8 GB RAM and 128 GB storage costs EUR 469.99 and the version with 12 GB RAM and 256 GB storage costs EUR 549.99. The price of the third model with 8 GB of RAM + 256 GB of storage has not yet been announced and is 499.99. Sales start on July 21st.
