Google Home introduces enhanced ‘Favorites’ tab enabling convenient control of entire room’s lighting

Google Home app users can now rejoice as the latest update introduces a highly anticipated feature to the customizable “Favorites” tab. The recent enhancement allows users to seamlessly add lighting groups to their preferred tab.

The Favorites tab within the Google Home app offers the flexibility to select and arrange desired devices on the main page. However, the absence of a streamlined method to add multiple lights has been a source of frustration for users.

Google’s Anish Kattukaran has officially confirmed the rollout of an update that addresses this issue. Users can now add an entire room’s lighting to the Favorites tab, a change that has been widely requested by the community.

While this update is currently being released exclusively to Public Preview testers, it is expected to be available to all users in due course. It is worth noting that this enhancement applies specifically to the recently launched “Home Panel” feature on Pixel devices.

Upon testing the functionality, it became evident that the update delivers the desired outcome. Light groups seamlessly integrate alongside individual lights in the list. While a shortcut to simultaneously turn off all lights is not yet available, this development marks a significant step towards improved control and convenience.
